Bill SwansonOn December 16, 2008 I had an opportunity to sit down and talk with Bill Swanson from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) on the Executive MBA program and on the subject of leadership. Mr. Swanson is the Executive Director of UNO’s Executive MBA Program and Professional Management Education Program. His primary duties include curriculum development, management and marketing of the College of Business Administrations Executive Management programs (both credit and non-credit). He also serves as the campus liaison between the University, local and region businesses, and state legislators. Prior to his return to UNO in 2002, Bill served as Director of Training and Development and Director of Recruiting Outreach for First National Bank of Omaha where he recruited college graduates and oversaw the activities associated with FNB’s Management Trainee program. He also worked closely with the Bank’s interns (including the INROADS Interns).

He has served as the Assistant Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where his duties included External and Community Relations, International Executive Education and expanding CBA’s internship program.

Prior to joining the University Bill spent over twenty five years in business management working for organizations like A.M. Castle Company, Valmont Industries, McMartin Industries and Snow Company.
Bill earned his BSBA degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in Business Management and has earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Executive MBA) from the University of Nebraska.

Here are some quotes that are meaningful to Bill:

Managers do things right,
Leaders do the right things.

Leaders use intuition – they make decisions with incomplete information.
